Pretty much all true wireless earbuds come with a charging/carrying case. This helps users charge the earbuds so that it’s always ready to go, plus it’s a good way of storing them when not needed. However, HMD is approaching the wireless earbuds with a unique twist. The company has announced the HMD Amped Buds which can also double up as a power bank.

Let’s start with the earbuds’ most unique feature first—a carrying/charging case that packs an incredible 1,600mAh battery inside of it. The case itself supports Qi2 reverse wireless charging, which means that you can snap the case onto a smartphone with Qi2/MagSafe support and it will help charge it up instantly!

We know that most smartphones these days pack batteries much bigger than 1,600mAh. However, in a pinch, if you need just a little bit more juice until you get to a charger, this will come in handy. Otherwise, it also acts as a pretty stylish case for the HMD Amped Buds.

HMD didn’t dive into too much detail regarding the specs of the earbuds. However, what we do know is that it supports active noise cancellation. It also features IPX4 dust resistance and IP54 splash resistance. The earbuds are rated to last up to 4 hours with ANC enabled, 8 hours in regular mode, and with the charging case, you can expect to get a total of 95 hours of playtime.

It’s a unique proposition and if you’re interested, the HMD Amped Earbuds will arrive in April for €199.
