Samsung says its S Pen is here to stay

Samsung’s S Pen has been a staple in the company’s mobile lineup for years, ever since it first introduced the Galaxy Note series. Now, we see the S Pen used in other Samsung products like the Galaxy S Ultra series and some of its tablets. But recently, Samsung downgraded some of the S Pen’s functionality with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, leading to some wondering if Samsung could eventually get rid of it.

For now, that won’t be the case. Speaking to Tech Radar, Samsung Mobile Experience (MX) VP of Product and Marketing in the UK, Annika Bizon, reassured customers that the S Pen isn’t going anywhere.

Bizon said, “Multimodal is really important to us. So [that’s] how people use their phone – whether they’re speaking, whether they’re writing, whether they’re in a meeting. People do use their S Pens in meetings to write notes. So, I don’t see a space where the S Pen is not a key part of our portfolio.”

It is a valid concern, though. Samsung downgrading some of the S Pen features in the Galaxy S25 Ultra is worrying, especially with the rumors suggesting a similar downgrade for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. We don’t blame customers for feeling that this could be Samsung’s way of eventually phasing it out.

We can’t say that the S Pen will be sticking around forever, but at least for now, customers don’t have to worry.
