Sony is sending out PS Store wallet credit as an apology for voucher redemption issues that players experienced over Christmas 2024. Players who attempted to redeem codes on December 24 were met with an error, and those who were impacted began receiving compensation last week.
Emails with PS Store credit going out to impacted players
A reader reached out to us to share an email they received from Sony, apologizing for a “systems error” that “resulted in users being unable to redeem voucher codes on the PlayStation Store.” Sony says it identified accounts that were hit with the error, and has added $10 to their wallets. Our reader further confirmed receiving the funds.
PlayStation LifeStyle has verified the authenticity of the email and can confirm that it was sent out to a number of players around the globe. A screenshot of the email provided to us by our reader can be seen below.
Interestingly, our reader claims that they did not lose their voucher despite having issues redeeming it, so it appears that Sony is compensating anyone who was inconvenienced rather than only those who actually lost funds.
Speaking of compensation, players are still awaiting their five-day PS Plus extension that Sony promised for February’s massive PSN outage. Considering that the company is only just compensating players for issues they experienced over Christmas, it might be a while before the PS Plus extension is applied.
