While the official website for //signal states that it doesn’t have any affiliation to Serial Experiments Lain, Chiaki Konaka (the head writer of the series) has given the project his blessings via a recommendation. It also falls under lainTTL, in which individuals in Japan do not need to ask for permission to distribute or sell fan-made content for Lain so long as they abide by set guidelines.
