How and when you can pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 (4)

Summary: Nintendo has officially announced the new pre-order date for the Switch 2 console in the US, including its official pricing and the available retail partners where you’ll be able to place your pre-order. Pre-orders will be available from all the usual retailers.

Nintendo officially announced the pre-order date for the Switch 2 back on April 2, with pre-orders planned to go live on April 9, but then delayed the pre-orders a few days later following the announcement of President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs. For the last couple of weeks, consumers have been wondering when they would be able to place their pre-orders, with no word from Nintendo about a new date.

Other questions arose as well, like whether or not the cost would stay the same. As of today, Nintendo has announced the new pre-order date for the Switch 2 in the US as April 24, as well as pricing and where you’ll be able to buy it. With that in mind, we’ve got all of the information you need on placing your pre-order for the Switch 2 here, including which retailers will carry stock and which versions they’ll have – i.e., the standard version and the bundle that comes with Mario Kart World.

Of course, you can pre-order the Switch 2 directly from Nintendo, although you’d have had to register for this, and you have to be selected. In the event that you aren’t, you’ll need alternatives if you’re planning to pre-order. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

How much will it cost to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2?

With the tariffs in full effect for China, many had been wondering whether or not the price of the Switch 2 would end up changing. The good news is that Nintendo has not changed the price of the Switch 2 for US consumers, as it will remain at $449.99 for the regular model, and $499.99 for the bundle that comes with Mario Kart World.

The price should stay the same at most retailers, though there might be some very small variance here and there. It’s also worth mentioning that Nintendo could always increase the price down the line. Just like Sony has done with the PS5 in other regions, however, that seems unlikely.

Where to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2

It’s now been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for pre-order from several retailers on the official day pre-orders go live. This includes your usual big box retailers here in the US. With most of them appearing to have listings for both versions of the console. That being said, none of the retailers have any stock as yet, and pre-orders won’t be live until April 24.

You can find all of the links for each store below, though some may not be available yet.

Best Buy

As expected, Best Buy will be one of the major retailers here in the US that will be carrying the Nintendo Switch 2, and you’ll be able to pre-order both the standard model and the bundle with Mario Kart World.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Console – $449.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle – $499.99

Walmart

Walmart will also be selling both versions of the Nintendo Switch 2 next week, albeit at slightly lower prices. Just the console will retail for $449, and the bundle with Mario Kart World will be $499. So you’re spending $1 less for each version.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Console – $449
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle – $499

Target

If Target is your preferred retailer, you’ll be able to pre-order both versions of the console from its online store.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Console – $449.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle – $499.99

GameStop

GameStop is an obvious retail partner for Nintendo and will also be carrying both versions of the Nintendo Switch 2.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Console – $449.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle – $499.99

Amazon

As of right now, Amazon doesn’t have listings up for the Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s not clear if the retailer will have stock with pre-orders going live on April 24. That being said, there are links below that go directly to Amazon with a search for the Switch 2. So when and if it does post product pages for each version, they should come up at those links.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Console – $449.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle – $499.99

What time will Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order listings go live?

Update: Target lists the pre-orders going live at 12 AM Eastern Standard Time on April 24th, which will be 9 PM Pacific Standard Time on the 23rd if you’re on the West Coast. GameStop has also confirmed a time for when pre-orders will go live. If you’re placing a pre-order at GameStop, pre-orders open at 11 AM EST on April 24 both in-store and online.

There hasn’t been a confirmed time for pre-orders going live yet, but if we were to guess, it’s going to be pretty early in the morning. Times can vary, but we’d suggest being prepared to place your pre-orders as early as 6 AM Pacific Standard Time. Just like with the PS5 all those years ago, we’d also suggest being ready to go with all of your information for every retailer, so all you have to do is add to cart and check out.

That means creating an account with each retailer website, adding your payment and shipping information to that account and saving it, and then logging into that account on each one. It also doesn’t hurt to split this up onto different devices so you don’t have to bounce between too many tabs.
