Too Good to Be True? New Galaxy Z Fold 7 Thickness Rumors Raise Eyebrows

A shocking new rumor claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could become the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. The thing is, chances are that it’s not accurate at all. Let’s take it one step at a time, though.

This information comes from Greece, from TechManiacs. It was also relayed by Anthony aka TheGalox_, a tipster. We’re not sure who got the info from whom, but chances are that the information is not accurate.

Shocking Galaxy Z Fold 7 thickness suggested by latest rumors

These two reports claim that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be 8.2mm thick when folded. Considering that the OPPO Find N5, the world’s thinnest book-style foldable, is only 8.9mm thick, this really does seem implausible.

OPPO managed to shock with its foldable, and these reports claim that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be considerably thinner. Samsung’s ‘Fold’ phones haven’t been particularly thin thus far. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is the thinnest, but it did not launch globally.

Let’s assume that the rumors are right, that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is 8.2mm thick. That would represent a 30% decrease in thickness compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 12.1mm thick when folded. It’s just… difficult to believe.

We’ve exclusively revealed the design of this phone, and… chances are these rumors are innacurate

Also, as some of you know, we’ve exclusively revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s design a while back. That design was revealed via CAD renders, which suggested that the phone will be 4.5mm thick when unfolded. For comparison’s sake, the OPPO Find N5 is 4.2mm thick when unfolded, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 5.6mm thick when unfolded.

An earlier Galaxy Z Fold 7 rumor suggested that the phone will be 9.5mm thick when folded. That one does seem to be way more plausible than the latest one. Don’t get us wrong, it would be great to see the Galaxy Z Fold 7 measure only 8.2mm in thickness when unfolded, but we simply don’t believe that is true.
