Galaxy Z Flip FE tipped to release months after the Z Flip 7

Samsung Foundry continues to work hard to stabilize its 3nm wafers. Reports from last year offered encouraging updates for 2025, but it seems things aren’t going so smoothly for the company. South Korean media claims that Samsung still can’t produce the necessary quantity of Exynos 2500 chips. This, in turn, could push the Galaxy Z Flip FE release date months after the Z Flip 7 announcement.
Samsung may not have the Exynos 2500 chip ready for the Z Flip 7
Recent reports already suggested that Samsung Foundry may still be having issues with its 3nm wafers. If you’re not aware, Samsung designed the Exynos 2500 as a 3nm chip to power the vanilla and Plus Galaxy S25 variants. Low yield rate issues with the company’s 3nm wafers prevented this, forcing Samsung to turn to Qualcomm.
Last year, Samsung executives revealed their intentions to equip the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip FE with the Exynos 2500 chip. It was even said that the firm had stabilized its 3nm process and was now working on optimizing the chipset. However, a February report raised the possibility that even the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The reason could be Samsung Foundry’s inability to meet the demand the firm expects for this particular model.
Now, The Bell backs up this possibility, so, at least as of today, it seems unlikely that we’ll see the Exynos 2500 SoC in the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung could release the Galaxy Z Flip FE “a few months later” than the Z Flip 7
The outlet adds that the Galaxy Z Flip FE will not arrive alongside its more expensive sibling. The company could unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 this year in July. There was speculation that the FE model could also be present at the event. Sadly, it seems that won’t be the case, as the phone will arrive “a few months later than the Galaxy Z Flip 7,” according to the source. This could give Samsung time to finally resolve the production issues with the 3nm Exynos 2500 chip.
Samsung may also launch its first tri-fold smartphone sometime this year. However, it is not yet certain that it will arrive alongside the next-gen Galaxy Z Flip and Fold.
