It looks like Google is continuing its mission to weave its key features across its ecosystem. There’s a “Live for AI Mode” in development for the Google Search app, for example. The latest buzz suggests a pretty cool integration is on the horizon. Remember Circle to Search, that super handy tool that lets you quickly search anything on your screen with a simple gesture? Well, it might be making its way to Gemini.
The folks at Android Authority recently dug into the beta version 6.18.37.sa.arm64 of the Google app (not yet publicly available, mind you) and spotted evidence of this potential mashup.
Circle to Search to arrive at Google Gemini
Currently, Gemini lets you overlay its interface on any screen and ask questions about what you’re seeing. However, it grabs a full screenshot. Circle to Search, on the other hand, lets you be much more specific. This feature allows you to select particular elements you’re curious about. Curious about where to buy a pair of shoes you saw in a picture? Want to immediately translate a text into your language? Circle to Search has got you covered.
Bringing these two together could make Gemini even more versatile. The source even shared a short video showing this feature in action.
Circle to Search within Gemini seems to work a bit differently than the standalone version. Instead of instant results popping up, Gemini appears to require a bit more user input. You can follow up your circled selection with text or voice queries to get the information you need.
As for when we might see this integrated Circle to Search land in the stable version of Gemini, that’s still up in the air. But the fact that it’s showing up in beta suggests Google is actively working on it. This could be a really neat upgrade for Gemini users, making it even easier to interact with and learn about the world around them.
