The Google Pixel 9a is still one of the slower charging devices on the market today, unfortunately. Though at its starting price of $499, you can kind of forgive it. Also the fact that it will have pretty stellar battery life, lets you forgive the charging speed a bit. The Pixel 9a does sport a 5,100mAh capacity battery, which is the largest in a Pixel device ever.
Google says to get the best charging experience, to use their 45W charging brick. It costs $29.99 over at the Google Store. However, there are better options out there that will still max out the charging speed on the Pixel 9a, for less, and also with more charging ports.
The Pixel 9a does charge at a max of 23W wired. That is quite slow, but as long as the phone lasts all day long, you’re only charging at night, and it’s less of a problem.
On the wireless side, it charges at a max of 7.5W unfortunately. Which is incredibly slow, even with a MagSafe case, it’ll still charge at only 7.5W.
Recommended Chargers for Google Pixel 9a
As mentioned, the Google Pixel 9a officially charges at a max speed of 23W, which is slower than the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup. But it does mean that any USB-C PD charger that charges at 23W or faster, will be perfectly fine for Pixel 9a. Or any wireless charger, since they all charge at 7.5W or faster these days.
UGREEN 35W USB-C Nexode Charger
UGREEN has a tiny 35W USB-C charger that is perfect for the Pixel 9a. It’s also just $17. This charger is a 35W charger that also includes a USB-A port, for those times you need to charge something with an older cable. This does also have a foldable plug, making it great for travel, as you won’t need to worry about the plug getting bent in your bag. If you’re using both ports at the same time, the USB-C port will only do a max of 25W.

mophie 15W Wireless Charging Pad
This wireless charging pad from mophie does use MagSafe for connecting to the Pixel 9a. So you will want a case that has MagSafe support. But it attaches to the back of the Pixel 9a and even has a kickstand that can be used for holding onto your phone or propping it up to watch a video. That’s a really ingenious feature to have included. It’s also not too expensive at only $25.
