One of the Greatest JRPGs of All-Time is 60% Off on PS Store

Mega March is upon us, bringing down some of the best games for PS4 and PS5 to more affordable prices. During the sales period, PlayStation players can save up to 75% on select games. This includes a very influential PS1 JRPG that is widely considered one of the greatest games of all time.

Final Fantasy 7 is less than $10 on the PS Store

The PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII is currently $6.39 on the PS Store. This is a 60% discount off its typical $15.99 price tag. Interested players will want to take advantage of this deal soon as it ends on March 27.

“Cloud, a former member of Shinra’s military organization, SOLDIER, joins the anti-Shinra resistance group AVALANCHE, despite caring little for their motives,” reads the game’s description. “During one of the group’s attempts to stop the company, they learn of the return of Sephiroth, Cloud’s nemesis, and that with his reemergence, the planet is in greater danger than anyone had expected. With the fate of the world riding on their success, Cloud and his allies set out to quell this deadly threat.”

Final Fantasy 7 launched on PS1 in 1997. It reviewed incredibly well upon release, garnering an average score of 92 across 20 reviews, according to review aggregate site Metacritic. Since its release, it typically finds itself in the “greatest game of all time” conversation, being included in tons of lists evoking the title, including Time Magazine’s “The 50 Best Games of All Time” list.

Its popularity spawned a couple of spinoffs, including Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, which expanded its story. Characters Cloud and Sephiroth have found themselves in other video game series as well, including Super Smash Bros. and Kingdom Hearts. Square Enix eventually developed a “remake” of the popular JRPG called Final Fantasy 7 Remake. However, people who have played the game know it’s a bit more than just a retelling of the events from the original.
