Spigen, who you likely know for their affordable cases, has deeply discounted its 20W USB-C Charger. It’s now $12.99, down from its regular price of $25.99. That’s not the lowest this charger has ever been, but still a pretty good discount.
This is a GaN charger from Spigen, which stands for Gallium Nitride. But what does that mean? Well, for decades, chargers have used Silicon inside to keep the charger cool while in use. Gallium Nitride replaces Silicon, keeps it cooler, and needs less space to do so. Making these GaN chargers much smaller. And that’s the case here with Spigen’s 20W charger. Spigen says that GaN makes its charger 50 degrees Fahrenheit cooler and 30% smaller versus non-GaN 20W chargers.
Spigen has a single-port USB-C charger here, with an indicator light. This light will indicate when something is actually charging, which can be very useful if you have a faulty USB-C cable. The charger also folds up, making it easy to toss into your bag when you’re traveling, because as I mentioned before, this is a very small charger.
While many phones do charge faster than 20W these days, this is still a great charger to grab and charge your phone a bit slower. It’ll be better for your battery’s overall health. However, if you’re in the US, most phones charge just barely faster than 20W, so this really doesn’t matter that much.
This 20W USB-C charger is great for charging up virtually any smartphone you might have. It’s fast enough to charge most iPhones at their full speed too.
