Galaxy Z Fold 7 Out-Thins the OPPO Find N5 — Believe It or Not

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will actually be thinner than you think. It won’t be as thin as a recent report suggested, we knew as much, but it will be thinner than you thought. A well-known tipster just shared more information about that, along with the exact thickness of the device.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will out-thin the OPPO Find N5 to become the world’s thinnest foldable

The information comes from Ice Universe, one of the most prominent tech tipsters out there. He went to X to confirm that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be 3.9mm thick when unfolded, and 8.9mm thick when folded.

This is actually quite shocking! Why? Well, because based on this, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will become the world’s thinnest foldable. The OPPO Find N5 holds that title at the moment. It is 4.2mm thick when unfolded, and 8.9mm when folded.

So, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will have the same thickness when folded, but it will be thinner when unfolded. PandaFlash X tipster even shared an image of the two devices side-by-side, in their unfolded forms.

Samsung’s foldable will have a considerably more boxy design than OPPO’s offering

As you can see, there are some differences here. The OPPO Find N5 does look thinner due to the fact it’s curvier. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will offer an extremely boxy design. If Ice Universe is to be believed, however, the one on the left will be thinner than the one on the right. Barely… but still.

The tipster also went on to confirm that a 4,400mAh battery (same as the Fold 6) will be included on the inside, which is a main tradeoff compared to the OPPO Find N5. That device has a 5,600mAh battery, and a great battery life.

OPPO is using a silicon-carbon battery, while Samsung probably will not. We can’t imagine the Galaxy Z Fold 7 being able to compete in terms of battery life with such a notable difference, but we’ll see. The sheer fact it will be that thin is shocking.
