Meet the Redmi Pad 2, Xiaomi’s New Affordable Tablet

Xiaomi recently expanded its budget Redmi lineup with a new entry in the form of the Redmi Pad 2, which comes with a rather low price starting at just around 230 bucks when converted. Priced to go against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy tab A9 Plus, the Redmi Pad 2 keeps things simple with a focus on the essentials.

In front, the tablet comes with an 11-inch 90Hz IPS display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution and up to 600 nits brightness, which should be more than enough for content consumption and internet browsing. It’s encased within an aluminium design, and comes in Mint Green and Graphite Gray colour models.

Inside, the Redmi Pad 2 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra chip, and while it’s suitable for casual use, it might have trouble running more graphically-demanding titles as well as video-editing apps, for example. The tablet offers 4GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations, with expandable storage up to 2TB via micro SD cards.

For software, the Redmi Pad 2 runs Hyper OS 2, and packs a 9,000 mAh battery with 18W charging, with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera in tow. It’s pretty basic as they come, but for a low price like this you’re getting a pretty decent spec sheet.
