PowerA's Pac-Man Xbox controller glows in the dark

Summary: PowerA has launched a new collection of gaming accessories themed after Pac-Man. There are two accessories, and these include a controller for Xbox and a case for the Nintendo Switch console. Both accessories launch today and are available directly through PowerA’s online store.

Back at the beginning of this month, PowerA teased the upcoming arrival of its Pac-Man Collection of accessories for Xbox and Nintendo. The company didn’t reveal much about the accessories in the collection outside of a few teaser images. It also revealed that it worked with Bandai Namco to create these accessories to perfectly tap into the nostalgia of one of gaming’s most iconic characters – Pac-Man.

Other than that, consumers were left to wonder about all the most important details. What the collection includes, how much things will cost, and when the accessories will be available. Today, PowerA has shared all of that. Or in this case, most of it. See, the teaser images included three different accessories. There were two controllers and one case. The case was for the Nintendo Switch, and then there was a controller for Nintendo Switch and one for Xbox/PC.

Following today’s reveal, the Nintendo Switch controller is surprisingly absent. PowerA’s announcement also makes no mention of it. However, it’s clearly visible in the teaser from the earlier report. That being said, the other two accessories are available starting today. And, the Xbox controller has a few neat tricks.

The PowerA Pac-Man Collection includes a glow-in-the-dark Xbox controller

Even though the Nintendo Switch controller is absent, there’s still the case to protect your console and your games. Xbox players are getting one truly cool accessory with the Pac-Man Xbox controller though. Not only does it have that retro Pac-Man design on it, but it also glows in the dark.

It’s certainly not the first glow-in-the-dark controller to ever exist, but that doesn’t make it any less cool. It could also be somewhat functional. If you play games late into the night then the glow could help you see the buttons a little better. In addition to glowing in the dark, the controller also reacts to UV light. This presents a completely different effect and while it’s really not a practical function, it’s a cool party trick to show friends. Or you can just enjoy it by yourself once in a while. The Xbox controller is also wireless.

The Xbox controller also has one other neat little detail. The font on the ABXY buttons matches the font used for Pac-Man’s logo.

As for the Nintendo Switch case, it fits all models of the console. Including the original, Switch Lite, and the Switch OLED. Additionally, it can hold up to nine Nintendo Switch game cartridges,  and there’s a rubberized handle for easy gripping. As well as dual zipper pulls to make sure the case stays closed neatly. The case also comes with the Pac-Man stickers you can apply to the outside.

If you’re looking to get your hands on these, PowerA is now selling them directly on its website. The Nintendo Switch case costs $22.99, and the Xbox controller is $89.99. The controller is also on Amazon but it does cost $10 more at $99.99. The case doesn’t appear to be available on Amazon or other retailers from what we can see. So you’ll probably have to go through PowerA for this one.
