I was annoyed earlier this year to see that the signature feature of Apple Intelligence that Apple unveiled last year turned out to be vaporware, at least for now. I'm talking about smart Siri, which should be able to surface information from the apps you have installed on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to help you control some apps. Apparently, it isn't reliable enough for Apple to release just yet. So, we have to wait.
While I'm willing to wait for Apple's AI to actually deliver something compelling (and I say that as an iPhone and Mac user in the EU who might have to wait even longer for new software features), I do see all the AI novelties available from rivals, and I get jealous.
The latest one is a new Windows 11 AI capability that's rolling out to some users. I caught a glimpse of it on social media, and I won't lie, I love what Microsoft is doing with Copilot on Windows 11, even though I won't switch to Windows anytime soon.
You can now invoke Copilot by saying "Hey, Copilot" on Copilot+ PCs and have a chat with the AI while you're busy working on something else. That's something I can't even dream of for Siri. In fact, I've had Siri turned off on the Mac for years.
