OnePlus introduced its latest flagship, the OnePlus 13, in China in October 2024. The company launched the smartphone globally in early January this year. Just a few months after the global launch, OnePlus is already working on the OnePlus 13’s successor. If we believe the reports, the company could launch the device as the OnePlus 15 instead of the OnePlus 14. Before any official announcement, some specs of the alleged OnePlus 15 have already leaked on the Chinese social networking website Weibo.
The OnePlus 15 specs could include Qualcomm’s next-gen SoC
According to Digital Chat Station, a usually reliable gadget tipster from China, OnePlus has already tested a prototype of its next-gen flagship with a Qualcomm SM8850 SoC. Many expect this model number to represent the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC. Qualcomm could launch this chip early this year.
If we believe the reports, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be significantly more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It could offer a clock speed of 5GHz due to enhanced Pegasus cores. This means the OnePlus 15 will be a massive powerhouse, thanks to the new Qualcomm chip.
Furthermore, the leak claims that the OnePlus 15 specs could also include a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO screen. The new model will downgrade from the 2K panel found on the OnePlus 13. Besides, the tipster claims the phone will have a triple camera setup on the back, with one of the sensors being a 50MP lens.
Rumors earlier also suggested the presence of a 200MP periscope telephoto lens on the device, which would be a significant upgrade over the 50MP telephoto lens of the predecessor.
Narrower bezels and symmetrical design also tipped
According to the latest leak, OnePlus will use an advanced LIPO packaging process to design the OnePlus 15. This means that the screen will have a large-radius corner design and narrower bezels than its predecessor. The tipster suggests that the industrial design (ID) will feature an ultra-symmetrical front, resembling the iPhone.
Lastly, the tipster has noted that the OnePlus 15 could flaunt a lightweight and minimalistic design. Unfortunately, the source hasn’t disclosed the exact details about the design yet. We can expect the device could finally move from the large circular camera module found on the previous OnePlus flagships.
It’s only been a few months since OnePlus launched the OnePlus 13. So, we advise our readers to take this OnePlus 15 specs leak with a pinch of salt for now. We’ll let you know more as soon as we hear anything, so stay tuned for regular details.
