ChatGPT Steal Data Red

Did you know that OpenAI’s ChatGPT has several different models? For the most part, all the models have no issues answering basic questions. However, if you want to do something more complex, like have it perform research for you, that’s where tools like Deep Research come in.

Now, in an announcement, OpenAI is bringing ChatGPT Deep Research to more users and introducing a new lightweight option. Deep Research was originally launched for ChatGPT Pro users, which is a subscription tier priced at $200 a month. However, the company later made it available to Plus, Team, and Enterprise users.

According to OpenAI, this new lightweight version of Deep Research is available to all users. “We’re significantly increasing how often you can use deep research—Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users now get 25 queries per month, Pro users get 250, and Free users get 5. This is made possible through a new lightweight version of deep research powered by a version of o4-mini, designed to be more cost-efficient while preserving high quality. Once you reach your limit for the full version, your queries will automatically switch to the lightweight version.”

What is the lightweight Deep Research?

So, what’s the difference between the lightweight version of Deep Research and the full version? OpenAI says its lightweight Deep Research tool runs on a version of the o4-mini model. The company says it’s “nearly as intelligent” as the full version. However, it will only offer shorter responses to help keep processing costs low. This doesn’t mean that it won’t be as powerful. OpenAI reassures users that while responses may be shorter, it will maintain the same “depth and quality” as the full version.

That said, you should always do your due diligence when using AI for research. AI is great at summarizing and explaining topics, but it isn’t infallible. AI has been caught fabricating information in multiple instances. This phenomenon, known as hallucination, affects all AI models.

This means that while tools like Deep Research are great to get your research off the ground and give you a good place to start, you shouldn’t rely on it 100% and assume that its information is completely accurate.
