Samsung could be preparing to launch its thinnest Galaxy phone yet. According to a new industry report out of Korea, the Galaxy S25 Edge release might be happening on May 23, starting in Korea and China, with a global release potentially following on May 30.
The leak claims that Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S25 Edge at a Galaxy Unpacked event on May 13. This lines up with an earlier rumor that also hinted at a May launch. At this event, the phone’s full specs, pricing, and color options are expected to be confirmed. This would make it the fourth model in the Galaxy S25 series, joining the Base, Plus, and Ultra variants.
What makes the S25 Edge stand out is its design. If the report is accurate, the phone could measure just 5.8 to 6.4mm thick, making it Samsung’s slimmest Galaxy S phone to date. It’s said to retain a 6.7-inch display like the S25 Plus but skip the telephoto lens in favor of a dual-camera setup with a 200MP wide-angle sensor.
Under the hood, it’s expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This is the same chip used across the Galaxy S25 lineup. A few pre-order perks may also be in the pipeline, including a double storage bonus for early buyers.
Pricing could start at 1.5 million won (~$1,090) for the 256GB model and 1.63 million won (~$1,185) for 512GB. A 1TB version likely won’t be offered, and the report suggests there won’t be any Samsung.com-exclusive colors either.
With Apple’s iPhone 17 Air rumored to launch in September, Samsung might be aiming to beat them to the punch in the thin phone race. That said, until Samsung makes it official, take this leak with the usual grain of salt.
