While smart projectors aren’t exactly new, there are still a lot of fairly new models out there that manage to cram a lot of impressive specs into a portable design, such as Anker’s new Nebula X1 smart projector. Anker promises a versatile smart home entertainment setup that goes beyond the confines of the living room—let’s check it out.

The Nebula X1 comes with a pretty capable hardware setup that includes a built-in micro gimbal with up to 25 degrees of tilt, optical zoom, and a memory function for recalling room settings, and even an AI-powered Spatial Adaptation auto setup which includes real-time autofocus and keystone correction, obstacle avoidance, screen fit, optical zoom, ambient light adaptation, and wall color adaptation, all accessible with a single remote button.

Inside, the projector uses a triple laser light engine that’s able to display 3,500 ANSI Lumens and 4K Ultra HD resolution for displays up to 300 inches. There’s also support for Dolby Vision technology and Anker’s own NebulaMaster Image Processing Engine, which uses an RGB laser to enhance brightness and color accuracy, along with a 5000:1 native contrast ratio and 56,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. A 14-element glass lens array is used to maintain image clarity over time.

For audio, the X1 features several internal speakers consisting of two 15W, two 5W tweeters, and two passive radiators. The speakers also come with a built-in battery that can last for up to eight hours of usage, and you also get a couple of HDMI ports. There’s also an internal liquid cooling system and a single fan for cooler (literally) movie binges, all wrapped up in a design that’s rated for IP54 dust and water protection. For content, there’s built-in access to Google TV.

The Nebula X1 will be available starting May 21st for $2,999. Anker is selling a “backyard accessory pack” which includes two Wireless Satellite Speakers, an X1 Carry Case, and two Wireless Microphones and will be available for $999. When purchased together, the X1 and the accessory pack total for $3,298 in the US through June 20th.
