The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal last week featured several solid games that are slated to be multiplatform, including some that are coming to PS5. However, one of the most anticipated games presented during the Direct is not coming to Sony’s video game console at launch.
Hades 2 Is a Nintendo Switch console exclusive, won’t come to PS5 at launch
Nintendo recently released a Creator’s Voice video for Supergiant Games’ Hades 2. During the video, the studio’s Greg Kasavin, Darren Korb, and Amir Rao discussed developing the highly anticipated sequel for the Nintendo Switch. At the end of the video, a screen shows the game’s logo along with the caption “Launching first for consoles on Nintendo Switch 2,” confirming console exclusivity with the upcoming console.
It should be noted that Supergiant Games issued a correction which also confirms Hades 2 will also come to the original Nintendo Switch when it launches. This means the platforms Hades 2 will launch on are the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A release date has not yet been announced.
This doesn’t mean Hades 2 won’t come to PS5. The original Hades launched for Nintendo Switch and PC first before coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles roughly a year later. This may be the case with the sequel.
Hades 2 is the first sequel from Supergiant Games, and for good reason. The first Hades won multiple awards when it launched in 2020. It was reviewed exceptionally well too. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, its average score is a 93 across 58 critic reviews.
“The first-ever sequel from Supergiant Games builds on the best aspects of the original god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in the Underworld of Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft,” reads the description for Hades 2.
For players who just cannot wait for a PS5 release, Hades 2 is available in early access on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store right now.
