The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may be great where it counts

We were all pretty shocked when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra for such a high price. Not only that, but we can’t ignore the obvious resemblance to the Apple Watch Ultra. Still, it was a popular watch, and people are waiting for the successor. It looks like the wait will be over soon, as Samsung might launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 along with the 2025 foldables. Not only that, but it might be a boon for people pinching their pennies.

Samsung barely paid attention to its smartwatches during last year’s Unpacked event, but the Galaxy Watch Ultra got the most time in the spotlight. Much like the Apple Watch Ultra, Samsung’s smartwatch was bigger and more powerful than its counterparts, and it came with more features. As such, people seemed to like it. The watch came in at $649, which is more than many decent smartphones on the market at the time. So, we’re all wondering what Samsung will do to make this device a more compelling offer over the first-generation device.

Samsung could launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

We’re just a couple of months away from the next big hardware event of the year, which is Samsung’s second Unpacked event of 2025. While we don’t expect much in the way of actual hardware improvements, we’re still curious as to how Samsung will try to justify spending more money on its website.

According to a new report, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will have a similar design to its predecessor. That should come as no surprise. Smartwatches don’t typically go through massive design overhauls. Also, this is Samsung we’re talking about; the company that barely ever brings changes to its designs. So, we should expect a carbon copy of the original Galaxy Watch Ultra.

At this point, we don’t know what sorts of features we should expect from this watch. The First one was pretty much full to the brim with features, so we’ll just have to wait to see. The version of One UI it’ll run could resemble One UI 7, according to the report.

As for the price, this is where this watch could be great. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could launch without a price hike. This is pretty significant, as most of our favorite devices nowadays are coming out at a higher price, and it’s getting tougher to keep up. So, this watch could stand out as one of the few devices to stay at the same price. Also, if you’re not interested in buying the latest and greatest, Samsung has discounted the first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra to $450.
