Exclusive: Motorola's Moto G 2026 Rocks Vegan Leather and a Camera Illusion

Following up on our exclusive leak of the Moto G Power 2026, we can now share your first exclusive look at the Moto G 2026.

As we can see from this image, the design doesn’t appear to be changing much at all. Though it is getting a slightly different blue color. This is model number XT2613-1. The “26” indicates model year 2026, while the “1” indicates Moto G series, and the “3” indicates the regular Moto G. And of course, the “-1” indicates the US. So this is the US variant of the Moto G 2026. The Moto G 2025 had the model number XT2513.

The color here appears to be Pantone 2376C, which is a sort of light slate bluish gray color. There isn’t an official color for this one yet. We are also noticing that Motorola is sticking with its vegan leather backing for the Moto G 2026. Surprisingly, the color we leaked for the Moto G Power 2026 did not have vegan leather, but that doesn’t mean all colorways will lack the vegan leather back.

Once again, we have three cameras on the back, sort of. The third “camera” is actually an ambient light sensor. This helps with getting accurate colors on your photos. We’ve seen this in a number of Motorola devices lately.

We do expect the cameras to remain the same, though hopefully the secondary camera does get an upgrade. For the Moto G 2025, it sported a 50-megapixel primary camera with a f/1.8 aperture, while the secondary camera was a 2-megapixel macro lens. Do keep in mind that this is typically a sub-$200 smartphone. That is, before the tariffs.

When will the Moto G 2026 launch?

The launch of the Moto G 2026 is pretty much up in the air right now. The Moto G 2025 launched on January 14 of this year, just after CES. So we’d expect similar timing for the 2026 model. However, something to keep in mind here is that smartphones typically launch a week or two earlier each year. So there is a distinct possibility that we could see the Moto G 2026 launch before 2026.

Though, when it comes to the US, it would be very surprising to see this launch in December, after most of the holiday shopping is complete. It would be smarter to see this launch at CES in Las Vegas, since we don’t see many phones being announced at that trade show.
