The POCO F7 is Official, and Comes with Some Killer Hardware

Xiaomi finally unveiled the latest addition to its POCO F7 lineup with the new “base” model F7. You’re probably wondering why the quotation marks—that’s because while it doesn’t carry the “Pro” or “Ultra” moniker in its name, the POCO F7 comes with a specs sheet that’ll make you look twice, especially when comparing it to its siblings.

Perhaps one of the most obvious differences is the display size. At 6.83 inches, the POCO F7 outsizes the F7 Pro and Ultra, which come with slightly-smaller screens. That said though, it does come with a somewhat lower display resolution at 1280 x 2772 pixels, but maintains the 120Hz refresh rate and 3200 nits of peak brightness.

It also ditches the circular camera island on the other F7 variants, and instead comes with a more “standard” looking vertical camera bump, and is available in black and white. Xiaomi does sell a “Cyber” edition which features a cool Snapdragon design accent on the rear panel as well as a transparent glass effect.

Compared to the F7 Pro in particular, the POCO F7 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, which in terms of overall performance is almost comparable to the 8 Gen 3 from a while back. You’re also getting 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage, and Xiaomi’s IceLoop cooling system which works alongside AI-based thermal controls, which should come in handy during intense gaming sessions.

As for battery, the POCO F7 comes with a 6500 mAh capacity cell (7550 mAh for Indian markets) that easily outsizes the batteries in the F7 Pro and Ultra. It caps at 90W charging speeds however, but at this size there’s little to complain about. For software, you’re getting Hyper OS on top of Android 15.

In terms of camera hardware, you’re getting a 50MP main camera as well as an 8MP ultrawide sensor, with a 20MP selfie camera in front. Video recording maxes out at 4K resolution at 30fps for the rear setup, although the front camera can only manage up to 1080p recording.

Probably the biggest highlight of the POCO F7 is its price, which starts at around $339 for the 256GB variant, making it much more affordable versus the other POCO F7 models, as well as other Snapdragon-equipped smartphones. Stay tuned for more of our coverage on this phone.
