Long-Awaited PS5 Shooter RPG Delayed at the Last Minute

An upcoming PS5 first-person shooter RPG has been delayed at the last minute on consoles due to unspecified “issues.” Nightdive Studios‘ System Shock 2 — a remaster of the legendary 1999 classic — was supposed to launch this Thursday, June 26.

System Shock 2 Remaster’s PC release will go ahead as planned, but the game will now release sometime in the first half of July on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A release date will be announced in due course.

“We have encountered issues that have prevented us from launching System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster on consoles, including Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation, on June 26 as originally intended,” Nightdive said in a statement. “We’re currently working to address these issues as quickly as possible. Because of this, we’ve made the difficult decision to proceed with the game’s release on PC platforms (Steam, GOG, Epic, Humble) on June 26, with the console release now targeting the first two weeks of July.”

We’re assuming console certification process may have delayed things, but it all works out in the end because PS5 players will be busy diving into Death Stranding 2: On the Beach this Thursday!
