What’s the Best Path for a Beginner: Backend Development or Cybersecurity?

Hey everyone! I’ve recently finished learning the basics of Python — I feel confident with syntax, writing small projects, working with files, and using some libraries. Now I’m trying to decide where to go next, and I’m really torn between two directions: Backend development (Django, Flask, etc.) Cybersecurity (web security, automation, scripting, etc.) Some people say it’s better to start with backend first — to understand how web apps work — and later transition into cybersecurity, since that knowledge helps a lot. Others suggest that if security is what you’re passionate about, you should just dive straight into it from the start. So I’d love to hear from people already working in these fields: What would you recommend to someone just starting out?

What’s the Best Path for a Beginner: Backend Development or Cybersecurity?

Hey everyone!

I’ve recently finished learning the basics of Python — I feel confident with syntax, writing small projects, working with files, and using some libraries.

Now I’m trying to decide where to go next, and I’m really torn between two directions:
Backend development (Django, Flask, etc.)
Cybersecurity (web security, automation, scripting, etc.)

Some people say it’s better to start with backend first — to understand how web apps work — and later transition into cybersecurity, since that knowledge helps a lot. Others suggest that if security is what you’re passionate about, you should just dive straight into it from the start.
So I’d love to hear from people already working in these fields:

What would you recommend to someone just starting out?
