Apple Watch to Gain Cameras in Future Models [Gurman]

Apple is developing new Apple Watch models equipped with cameras, aiming to enhance their functionality with real-world awareness, according to a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In a recent newsletter to subscribers, Gurman says the company plans to add cameras to both the standard Apple Watch Series and the rugged Ultra line. For the Series, Apple is exploring a camera embedded within the display, similar to the iPhone's front-facing lens. Gurman notes, "The current idea is to put the camera inside the display of the Series version." In contrast, the Ultra's thicker design allows for a different approach. "The Ultra will take a different approach, with the camera lens sitting on the side of the watch near the crown and button," he writes. This positioning could let Ultra users point their wrist to scan objects, while Series users might need to flip their wrist to use the feature.Beyond cameras, Apple is working to introduce other Apple Watch features, but not without challenges. Gurman reports ongoing difficulties with a long-anticipated blood-pressure tracking capability, stating, "The company continues to run into problems while testing its long-planned blood-pressure tracking feature." Additionally, a rumored plastic redesign for the Apple Watch SE faces hurdles.
