Summary: Motorola has announced its latest smartphone, the Edge 60 Fusion. It features an interesting canvas-like finish and pretty decent specs for its price. However, based on past launches, a release in the US seems unlikely.
In the past few years, it feels like Motorola has given up on the high-end flagship market. Instead, the company is focusing on budget and mid-range devices, and it seems to have been a smart decision. Motorola’s entry-level and midrange handsets have earned high praise, and now the company returns with its latest release, the Edge 60 Fusion.
Interesting texture, and surprisingly rugged
One of the more interesting features of the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion is its finish. Unlike high-end phones that love to use a mixture of glass and metal, Motorola has opted for a faux canvas finish. These types of finishes are reminiscent of Motorola’s earlier smartphone efforts, like the Moto X, which had a host of colors and finishes that customers could choose from.
The phone is also surprisingly rugged. According to Motorola, it has both IP68 and IP69 certifications, which means it’s fully dustproof and can handle water immersion and high-pressure sprays. Apparently, you can immerse it in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes without any issue.
It also meets MIL-STD 810H military standards for extreme weather durability. The touchscreen even works when wet, thanks to Motorola’s “Water Touch” tech.
What’s under the hood?
Given that this isn’t a high-end phone, don’t expect too much in performance. It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 or 7400 chip (depending on where you live), and comes with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
The camera system features a 50MP main and 13MP ultrawide shooter. It isn’t much to shout about, but it gets the job done.
As for the screen, we’re looking at a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate covered by a Gorilla Glass 7i. Motorola says it’s twice as tough as earlier versions.
Seeing as it is 2025, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the phone comes with AI features. Motorola claims that the handset is the first to come with Moto AI features out of the box. This includes features such as Pay Attention, a recording, transcribing, and summarizing audio tool. There is also a Remember This feature that captures on-screen information and Magic Canvas, an AI tool that generates images from text prompts.
Pricing & availability
The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion is priced at £299.99 (about $390). However, note that Motorola isn’t launching the handset worldwide. Like last year’s Edge 50 lineup, the Edge 60 Fusion isn’t launching in the US. If you live stateside, the closest alternative is probably Motorola’s $299 Moto G Power.
