PlayStation Console Exclusive Is Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct has finally come and gone, giving eager fans of the Mario maker something to look forward to this year. However, one interesting tidbit of news to come from the presentation involved a PlayStation console exclusive, which is set to launch for the upcoming portable hybrid before coming to an Xbox console.

PlayStation console exclusive Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 before Xbox

Revealed during the partner spotlight portion of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Square Enix Director Naoki Hamaguchi appeared on screen to reveal Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade is coming to Nintendo’s upcoming console. A release date was not confirmed for the port. Hamaguchi did confirm that players can “look forward to more updates” at some point.

This is a pretty interesting move as Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been a PlayStation console exclusive since it launched in 2020. Both Remake and its sequel, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, are available on PC but have yet to make the jump to Xbox consoles. This will be the first time the reimagining will be available on another console platform.

As stated above, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a reimagining of the incredibly popular and influential 1997 Square RPG. While it features moments from the original release, it deviates in some significant ways, splitting the entire experience into three separate games. The third game has yet to be formally announced.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is an enhanced version that launched for PS5 and PC in 2021. It includes an additional ending scene in the base game as well as DLC featuring Yuffie Kisaragi.

When Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched in 2020, it was well-received by critics. In our review, we gave the game a 10 out of 10 saying it was “perfection.”
