PS5 Pro update

A surprise PS5 Pro update was recently rolled out for an unlikely 2024 hit. Undisputed — the first major boxing game since 2011’s Fight Night Champion — released to mixed critic reviews last October, but surpassed publisher Deep Silver’s expectations by selling over a million copies in less than a month. Now, PS5 Pro players can enjoy a few enhancements.

Undisputed PS5 Pro update comes alongside new venues and gameplay improvements

According to developer Steel City Interactive, Undisputed players can expect “revamped lighting and improved gameplay graphics” on the PS5 Pro. Patch 1.3 also comes with new venues, gameplay changes, general improvements, and fighter rating changes.

Do note that Undisputed’s PS Store page hasn’t been updated with the ‘PS5 Pro enhanced’ tag yet, but the update is already out. The game can also be streamed and trialed via PS Plus Premium.

Patch notes for update 1.3 are as follows:

New Venues

  • Added Café Royal. This licensed venue is situated in the heart of London and steeped in boxing heritage.
  • Added Riyadh Season Gym. Further immerse yourself in this dominant city of boxing by fighting in this new licensed venue.
  • Added The Observatory. A brand new, high-tech venue with a heavy sci-fi feel.

Gameplay Changes

  • Made some minor adjustments to how punch targeting and tracking work. We’re currently playtesting a more impactful improvement right now and if the playtesting goes well, we will ship these changes to everyone in another update as soon as we can.
  • We’ve rebalanced block health. The longer you continuously hold your block, the more damage your block health will take. Continuously holding your block will also now slow down your ability to block again after throwing a punch by reducing the animation speed, allowing your opponent to more easily work around your block if you’re overusing it.
  • Temporarily removed flash knockouts from the game due to an issue that caused the game to lock. Flash knockdowns remain unimpacted.

Career Mode

  • Introduced Career Custom Roster – you are now in control of which of your custom characters or licensed fighters you want in your career mode playthrough, allowing you to further tailor your experience and fully immerse yourself.
  • Added fighter customization in career mode, so you are now able to customize your fighter’s attire.
  • Licensed boxers now age in line with their real-life birthday dates.

General Changes

  • Undisputed is now compliant with PlayStation 5 Pro. Players on the PlayStation 5 Pro can expect revamped lighting and improved gameplay graphics.
  • Enabled instant replays for online game modes. Both players must have replays enabled for them to be active.
  • Improved audio quality for players using sound bars and headphones.
  • Introduced a Red Carpeting System, which guides players to new content, like new fighter outfits or player cards, through the menus.
  • Added 2 new hairstyles to character creator.
  • Updated old school boxers’ shoes, to be more in line with how they looked in real life.
  • Homepage stats screen has now been revamped to track even more areas of the game – such as career. It now includes things like your fighter’s overall stats, which boxer and game mode are your most played, etc.
  • Removed the overall rating cap on created characters.
