A 2022 PS Plus Essential game is now free for all players including non-subscribers. Brought to us by the studio behind Friday the 13th: The Game, Arcadegeddon is an evolving co-op multiplayer shooter that was offered as a monthly game three years ago, and recently went free-to-play.
Former PS Plus game Arcadegeddon became free to play in March but barely anyone noticed
Players would be forgiven for not remembering Arcadegeddon. The game didn’t quite garner the same attention as developer Illfonic’s other endeavors, including Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunting Grounds.
Arcadegeddon’s F2P transition also largely went unnoticed. The update was announced on X, but frankly, it flew under our radar as well until the PS Plus subreddit brought it to our attention.
Some subscribers are a bit peeved about Arcadegeddon being offered as a PS Plus title only to end up going F2P like Square Enix flop Foamstars. To be fair, there was a three-year gap in between, so players only have a reason to complain if they purchased Arcadegeddon just ahead of the announcement.
Arcadegeddon isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last PS Plus game to eventually become an F2P title.
Anyway, folks looking for something to play this weekend might want to give Arcadegeddon a shot. Let us know what you think of it.
