Garmin has introduced its Connect Plus paid subscription, which offers Active Intelligence and more advanced health-tracking features. The company says its premium plan offers “even more personalized insights” in the Garmin Connect smartphone app. It’s worth mentioning that Garmin Connect will remain as it is, with all the existing features still free.
Garmin upgrades its already data-packed experience with AI-powered insights
Garmin’s new Connect Plus premium app experience includes artificial intelligence-powered insights, improved dashboards, and new indoor/outdoor workout tools. The company says the paid service’s new tools will improve your overall fitness journey. Active Intelligence is the biggest highlight of the subscription, which generates personalized tips and insights throughout the day.
The Active Intelligence features will help users reach their ultimate fitness goals. As users use Garmin Connect Plus more, the AI-powered insights will become more tailored to their fitness routines and their goals. However, beyond this information, we know little about what these AI-backed suggestions will look like. The Active Intelligence feature will initially roll out as a beta.
It’s worth adding that Garmin is a little late to the AI party. Whoop and Strava added AI-powered features in late 2023 and last year, respectively. Other tech brands like Samsung, Oura, and Google have already added AI-backed features to their wearable products.
The premium service also offers a new dashboard, live activity, and more features
Apart from Active Intelligence, the Garmin Connect Plus subscription also offers a new performance dashboard. It allows you to compare custom charts and graphs over a period of time for better visualization. Once subscribed, you’ll also be able to view real-time health stats like heart rate, pace, and reps directly from your smartphone during your workout.
If you love outdoor workouts, there’s a new LiveTrack feature that allows you to share your location and activity with your friends and family members. Other highlights of the paid plan include exclusive expert guidance from Garmin coaches and a handful of social challenge features.
Coming to the pricing, you can choose between a $6.99 monthly or $69.99 annual subscription for the Garmin Connect Plus service. The company is offering a free 30-day trial for free to both existing and new users. That said, Garmin will continue to provide all core features of the original Connect app for free, at least for now.
