Philips is one of the popular brands that deals in various product segments; it has some of the most innovative smart home products under its belt. Now, it seems Philips will soon expand its smart home portfolio by adding a new smart doorbell, which has just leaked from the Hue app.
Philips’ upcoming smart doorbell has accidentally leaked from its own Hue app
Leaks are part and parcel of the tech industry; we often have products’ specs, images, and even their pricing on our hands before a brand officially launches them. However, it’s very rare to see a brand killing the excitement of a new product, albeit through an accidental leak. Philips appears to be the latest victim of this.
Philips’ upcoming smart home product–the Hue Secure doorbell–has leaked via its own Hue app. Folks over at Hueblog first spotted a listing for the Hue Secure doorbell on the app’s new QR setup menu screen. That’s not all; the graphic image of the doorbell has also appeared in the listing.
It’s worth noting that this is the first time we have heard or seen this product. No other reports in the past have ever mentioned anything about it. Well, it’s not just the name and graphics that have leaked, how it would work is apparently also known now. From the looks of it, the leaked Philips Hue Secure doorbell will connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
The doorbell won’t use a rechargeable battery
It will reportedly require a wired power connection and doesn’t rely on a rechargeable battery. When available, you might be able to set up the Philips Hue Secure doorbell by scanning a QR code on the owner’s card. All that said, the tech specs of the product have been under wraps.
The publication notes that Philips doesn’t have any plan to launch this doorbell before the fall of this year. For more details, all you can do is wait or sit tight for another accidental leak. In related news, Samsung brought over 155 Philips Hue products to SmartThings this month to expand its smart home ecosystem.
