Qualcomm recently announced the launch of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a new chip designed to power upper-tier midrange devices, while still keeping the Snapdragon 8 Elite within a league of its own. A 4nm chip, Qualcomm claims that the the 8s Gen 4 comes with enhancements for overall performance, AI, and photography.

Equipped with a Kryo CPU and Adreno 825 GPU, the 8s Gen 4 is built on a 4nm process, with a setup that consists of a single high-performance Cortex-X4 core at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A720 performance cores at 3.0GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores at 2.8GHz, and two Cortex-A720 efficiency cores at 2.0GHz.
Qualcomm does promise a 31% increase in performance over the previous generation alongside a 39% reduction in power consumption; mobile gamers can expect support for Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including real-time ray tracing and 4K upscaling via Snapdragon Game Super Resolution 2.0.
The chip also integrates advanced AI capabilities with its AI Engine and Hexagon NPU, that allows for on-device processing. Photography and videography are set to improve with the Spectra AI ISP, with features like real-time semantic segmentation and better low-light capture.

On the connectivity front, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with Qualcomm’s 5G Modem-RF System, alongside enhanced audio features with Snapdragon Sound, XPAN, and seamless device switching for audio connections.
