Summary: Microsoft has announced Copilot Vision for mobile devices. The new feature is available via the Copilot app on Android and iOS. Unlike on Edge web browser, Copilot Vision for mobile analyzes real-time video from mobile and suggests taking different actions. The feature is coming to Windows too, with testing set to kick off next week through the Insiders program.
Microsoft has been constantly updating its Copilot AI Assistant to let users do more with it. More recently, a report hinted that the company has quietly rolled out “Copilot Search” on Bing, and now it’s been officially announced. Besides AI search, Microsoft has also announced Copilot Vision for mobile devices.
Microsoft finally expands Copilot Vision to Android and iOS
Microsoft initially launched Copilot Vision for the Edge web browser. It allowed Copilot to guide you through the content you see on a website. Now, the company is going one notch up by adding some multimodal capability.
Copilot Vision will now be able to analyze real-time video from your mobile camera. That’s not all; it can also analyze photos stored in your phone. In the announcement blog post, Microsoft gives an example of Copilot Vision analyzing videos of plants to figure out whether they are healthy.
If they turn out to be unhealthy, you’ll get tips from Copilot Vision to keep them healthy and decorating advice for your home. Only time will tell if the feature performs as expected. The Copilot Vision is now available within the Microsoft Copilot app on Android and iOS.
Windows users will also get this feature
Not to forget, a similar feature will debut on Windows soon. Microsoft says that it is updating the Copilot app on Windows to support Copilot Vision across your entire PC. If you are signed up for the Windows Insider program, you should be able to test the feature starting next week. The AI assistant can analyze photos, websites you’re browsing, and more.
Although it sounds like the Recall feature available on Copilot+ PCs, it’s not. If you enable the Recall feature, it automatically takes screenshots, however, Copilot Vision is quite different. It’s more like sharing your screen while in a Teams meeting. Moreover, the mass rollout will only happen after testing is complete.
