Perhaps aside from more powerful smartphones and computer chips, one of the biggest tech advancements these past years has been the continued proliferation of Network Attached Storage (NAS drives) within the consumer-grade market. With that said, StationPC recently announced the launch of “PocketCloud,” a portable NAS drive which has gone up on Kickstarter.

PocketCloud’s small design and user-friendly data management give it an edge over more “standard” NAS systems which are often larger in general and take up more indoor space. This makes it ideal for photographers, content creators, and other users who need a more convenient way to store and access their files on the go.

In terms of hardware, you’re getting a 0.96” LCD display and a knob control design, dual M.2 NVMe SSD slots, and a fan-driven cooling system, all of which come encased in an aluminum shell that features a sleek design. There’s also support for up to 800 mbps transfer speeds for file backups.

Additionally, StationPC adds that the drive’s built-in battery can last for up to six hours of continuous use, or up to 20 days in standby mode. With all that being said, if you’re interested in grabbing one then you might want to know that early backers can secure their own PocketCloud unit with a special Kickstarter price starting at $199, down from its usual $299 price tag.
