OPPO Find N5 durability test 2

Summary: The OPPO Find N5 has been submitted to a series of durability tests, and it actually cracked under pressure. The phone did not snap in half, but the main display died. Some damage was done even when applying pressure on the phone while closed. ALl of this was done by Zack from the JerryRingEverything YouTube channel. A full video is available.

Zack from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel managed to get his hands on the OPPO Find N5. That means only one thing, it’s time for a new durability test. We’ll talk more about it below, while you can check out the entire thing in a video embedded below the article.

The OPPO Find N5 cracked under pressure in a durability test

Having said that, the test started with a display scratch test. The outer display scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7. Which is on par with displays on regular smartphones, so… all good.

The inner, foldable display, however, scratches at a level 2. That is very low, but it is to be expected out of foldable panels. You can also leave indents with your fingernail, actually, as was the case with other foldables. Be careful with foldable displays.

The phone’s frame is made out of aluminum, while the hinge is made out of aluminum and titanium. Zack made sure to scratch the phone all over, just to test out everything. The buttons are also made out of metal.

The model he tested has vegan leather on the back, which means it’s a Chinese variant. Global model have glass on the back, so it’s a different story entirely. The cover display managed to last 20 seconds under direct flame from a lighter, and the mark it left was permanent. Not that this is something that would happen during your daily use, but… it’s fun to do, I guess.

Sand was brought into the equation too, even though the phone is not dust resistant

He also decided to put a bunch of sand on the phone and the hing too, with some tiny rocks mixed into it. The OPPO Find N5 does not have dust resistance, so… keep note of that. You will run into issues if you do something similar to this.

Where the Find N5 failed, however, is the bend test. That was to be expected, considering its the thinnest, but the way it failed was not expected. Zack applied pressure on the phone when closed, and white bars appeared on the main display, two of them. The display still worked, but… still.

The phone did not snap in half when he applied pressure on it while open, but it did bend quite a bit. After applying some additional pressure, the main display died.
