Now, a trusted insider has claimed that Sony could upgrade the telephoto camera of the Xperia 1 VII.

Now, an Esato forum user, spektykeles, claims that Sony might use an upgraded telephoto sensor of around 1/2″ in size.

If the claims are accurate, the Xperia 1 VII’s camera will receive a significant upgrade. Last year’s flagship Sony Xperia phones featured a 1/3.5″ Exmor RS zoom sensor in comparison. While the speculation around the sensor size remains, it’ll likely be larger than what the Xperia 1 VI currently packs. Moreover, it’s worth noting that the rumor mill hints that the phone could debut in May or June.

Although the details are scarce, it could be a hint that Sony is planning to revive the Xperia Walkman phone. It’s also possible that the company will return to the “Walkman” name for its music player app and add more audio-focused features.
